day before my day

I have a few random ditty's:
Ordered Japanese last night and I needed a couple extra bucks to make the minimum for delivery. I thought I'd broaden my horizons and try Mochi for the first time. Mochi, according to google, is a glutinous dessert made of rice pounded into a consistency that surrounds the ice cream. The best way I can describe it is like imagining vanilla paste frozen with lightly powdered sugar on the outside. Honestly, delicious. Hit the spot!








I absolutely love receiving cards, letters, etc. from little kids. Their handwriting and words are just too cute to even compare to anything else that it really just makes my day. I helped my parents neighbor with her Flat Stanley project (doing Chicago, or course) and she sent me back a letter and a gift to thank me (how sweet, and unexpected!)

And finally, my birthday is tomorrow. Last year's birthday was awful... I came home from work, I was debating calling off my wedding (which I obviously later did), my (now) ex was mad at me for not believing in anything he said (rightfully so), and we got in a fight and then I went upstairs to our room and cried for a couple hours and then fell asleep. It was an awful birthday, and I never want to re-live that again. On to 28... hopefully a better year for me.

iPhone love

Random Tidbit:

I will never be able to properly convey the love I feel for the iPhone, for it has truly changed my life. I held off for a very long time before I got an iphone, and even at that I waited until it was on sale before I would commit to buy it. I thought my Blackberry Curve suited my needs just fine. But no… the iphone has changed my life for the better.

My favorite apps:

Banking: I love banking through my phone. I can do everything -- transfer money to different accounts, pay bills, schedule a payment, check my balance… practically everything I can do online, I can do on my phone. This is probably the most helpful app, especially when I am running low on funds, I can move money around!

Google Maps: Holy smokes, this is a good one. It gives 3 different options -- car, public transportation, and walking… all 3 of which I do on a daily basis. Unless there is a poor reception, I shall never be lost again! It shows a little blue dot where I am and allows me to find the right direction. love love love.

Transit Tracking: Its useful now, but will be more so during the winter time when its -25 degrees out and I can gauge when to leave to catch the train so I don’t have to stand on the platform and freeze to death. Its always good when I never have to deal with freezing to death.



Grubhub: The best “order your food online” app ever. You pick your exclusions, give additional instructions, its all just convenient. After you place your order, the last screen in just funny to me! These people are REALLY excited about getting food, hahaha!



iheartradio: I wouldnt be able to listen to my favorite radio station in Dallas, 106.1, kidd kraddick in the morning -- without the iheartradio app! My life would be in shambles without listening to them everyday!

Satan Dog

Random Tidbit: There is a poodle possessed by Satan himself right on my very street. You walk anywhere near the front of this house and it unleashes this sadistic bark that im sure even makes the mailman quiver. I hear the owners call him Ozzie. One of these days, Ozzie is gonna get it right in the puss.

Getting Settled

Ive spent most of the afternoon relaxing after a busy morning. I had intended on going to ikea to buy this cart:



This cart costs $99.99 at Ikea, not including the 30-45 min drive to get there, and then the same amount of time to get home, and also assemble it. By chance, I looked on craigslist for this cart and wouldnt you know it -- a guy was selling the same cart and he lives right across the street from the dog park! So we arranged to meet this morning for the swap and it only cost me $60 and less than a 2 mile roundtrip car ride. I think the best part is that I didnt have to assemble it either!





I ventured out to CBA (Chicago Bagel Authority) for lunch today, as people I work with rave about their food. Their menu is overwhelming, but the overall feel of the place is very new-world hippy both in music and store signage (signs along the line of “if you’re mean, please leave”). Their menu items are most complex with their sandwiches being filled with all sorts of things, I swear I couldn’t find anything less than 4 ingredients! I tried the Toby-Q, I believe it was called. The sandwich was good but honestly, the price is somewhat disappointing at $8. I think that will be my first and last time there.

Random Tidbit: I brought my sandwich home and when I finished, I laid on the couch looking up at the ceiling fan. You know what ceiling fans remind me of? When I was younger, at our Chicago house, I remember turning on the kitchen fan and grabbing a bouncy ball and throwing It up in the fan and ducking for cover. We found it hysterical when the fan whipped it back at us and we hoped surreptitiously that nothing would break… that is, before my mom yelled at us to stop before we broke the fan.
